The CLP has further a number of features that make it suitable for safety-critical applications.

Firth of all, it is capable of detecting and correcting Single Event Upsets (such as resulting from a heavy ion impact). The CLP is capable to detect and correct such events in a manner that is completely transparent for the executing software. It is also capable to detect Multiple Bit Upsets (MBU) and to perform an automated restart.

The CLP is further capable to monitor executing software by means of a watchdog mechanism whereby the application needs to signal its presence by echoing a varying watchdog word. Whenever the executing software stops replying, the CLP is also capable to  perform an automated restart.

Automated restart is also under user control.

The CLP further generates housekeeping indicators (such as event counters) that provide visibility on its correct functioning.
